| In the fall paddle with runs of salmon as they head up river to spawn. Paddle another river, then it's a short hike to beautiful water falls and pools. Explore old mine sites, caves and pioneer settlements. In the spring there's the majestic migration of Grey Whales as they make their way north. Witness the huge herring runs and see the hundreds of Bald Eagles and Sea Lions which congregate to feed on these fish. Spend some time beachcombing, collecting oysters and clams to compliment the evening dinners. | ![]() |
| Experience the excitement of whales coming within feet of your kayak. These gentle giants of the ocean are very curious of kayakers and will come very close to inspect you. This is a very exhilarating and rewarding experience only witnessed from the perspective of the kayak. All our kayaks are very safe and stable and all are equiped with regulation safety equipment. We have done our best to ensure our guests have the safest most stable kayaks for these adventures. |

| Kayaking Info and what to bring: |
| The best times for seeing the whales is between March - April even though between May - June there are many whales around Barkley Sound and the Broken Group. Also in these months Bald Eagles are very plentiful, feeding on herring runs and looking after there young, they make for some spectacular scenery. The summer months are very peaceful and calm in the sound , salmon start to congregate in the mouth of the sound preparing for spawning runs in the fall, this brings out all sorts of wildlife making for a very unique wildlife experience from the perspective of a kayak. |
| If in doubt about what to bring for clothing we will gladly supply you with further information but generally light but warm clothing. Fleece, with neoprene or gortex shell. Single or two piece light wet suit. Aqua shoes and/or neoprene socks. Camera and film, binoculars and flashlight. |
| All kayaks are transported out by support vessels to the best locations for viewing, this enables the participants to spend more quality time paddling and exploring this unique wilderness environment. After the excitement of the day we return to the lodge for a hot shower, great food and to relax or talk about the days experiences |
